Background and Experience
I, and my wife and son John, own and manage our real estate investments. Moreover, we’re 4th and 5th generation Developer/Owners. Checkout our site. The point is I’m a responsible owner of a successful business. In addition, I possess the eduction, skills in Business and the IT world.
Besides my real estate experience, I have been an IT professional life (1965-1990), as well as an Independent Computer Systems contractor (1990-1999) with Rapid Application Development tools and my own HomeBASE product line of personal and business applications for the Windows platform. And now, I have returned as an Independent Contractor, with the same approach as well as the ability to develop applications for Mac and Windows using an expanded set of tools, i.e WordPress, FileMaker and a variety of other tools in the web world.
I enjoy building websites, and using the internet for social and business. This allows me to share my sites with family, friends and associates. Check out my personal website too.
Besides my own skills and ability, I have and will continue to develop Strategic Business Partners to supplement my time and staffing resources. In my projects, I bring my experience and project management skills to add an extra dimension to the project. This allows me to do a Project Assessment for small, medium and large applications. The result a more “focused” approach, that is I can evaluate the needs, alternatives and development cost/benefits. Who Needs Me?
If you’re only looking for a simple website, I urge you to “do it yourself”. Both Wix and Weebly offer very easy to use tools. if you don’t need the full features and capability of a WordPress site. Although the WordPress software is “Free and Open” for future development. My personal website was built and maintained on Weebley .. and, I’ve evolved it over time to include much of the additional features, i.e., integrating my web databases, etc. You can even add “Shopify” in 10 minutes, and it’s beautiful as well as functional. You don’t need me, really!
WordPress now represents 27% of the total websites world wide. Interesting, you may be surprised that it’s both the high-end corporate users, as well as hobbyists, who are the users.
Even if you’re a high end user, with 1,000 concurrent users logged on, I’m not the one. But, I would look for a developer using “Ruby on Rails”, that being the best (most expensive tools). They can give you the best for the buck, given they’ve got the experience and prices .. shop before you commit.
I also urge you to use Apple’s FileMaker on any basis, it’s simply the best out there. And, I caution you against using Microsoft Access .. albeit readily available for many users at work and at home. Access is just not the tool for end users, and was designed for programmers. While Apple’s FileMaker was built for the end user, and it the fastest growing among the tools. Why, hey .. It’s easy to use and relatively inexpensive, that is it could cost $1,000 to buy and and, little ($100/mo) to maintain monthly, i.e.. plugins, training and hosting services, and other ancillary expenses, etc.

The Bottom Line
Considering both your own staff as well as other outside contractors, my rates and support are simply faster, better and less expensive. And, the more you look, the better I look! The best way is to get a proposal from them for your needs. Call for a telephone meeting (518-364-3256).

Look for someone who, like me, can show you their stuff. As anyone who has done any website/database work knows .. “If you build it, they will come”. However much fun, it really is work. The more you want or need the more work it takes. Only experience can lead the way, without you getting lost and heading down dead ends. Our site here includes lots of what’s required.
NOTE: These rates are for WordPress sites, and many aren’t qualified to develop Web Database Applications thou they might offer workarounds (synching databases). etc. Our approach includes either our online training to “role your own”, and the option to have us build it/run it for you. Our site here intentionally includes all of the options we offer (including web database applications, online education and support, as well as a variety of desktop/iPad/iPhone/Hosted Support).
